چکیده
A deep understanding of the solid-state phase transition processes zirconia is a mandatory requirement for development new zirconia-based materials useful many industrial applications. For five decades, monoclinic $\ensuremath{\Leftrightarrow}$ tetragonal described as martensitic one and it well known that associated with large unit cell volume variation promotes appearance elastic strains also microcracking. In present paper, we study, through in situ high temperature x-ray diffraction experiments, coupling between strain relaxation into pure bulk polycrystal. Quantitative analysis signal allows us to disentangle, respect variation, microcracking processes, demonstrate postelaboration thermal treatment induces an increase stored energy. Finally, show such polycrystals exhibiting crystal size distribution which crystals are under internal stresses, process evolves from first order second when decreases.

Stress-Biased Anisotropic Microcracking in Zirconia Polycrystals
Anisotropic elastic response of microcracked bodies has been studied using transformation-toughened Mg-PSZ and Ce-TZP as model materials. These zirconias have been previously deformed in triaxial compression to effect various extents of phase transformation. Microcracks were found to align with the compression axis and their normalized density increases linearly with the extent of transformatio...
متن کاملRecoverable Strains in Shape-Memory Polycrystals
Many alloys display the shape-memory effect in single crystal form, however the degree to which they retain this effect in polycrystalline form varies widely. We propose a theoretical explanation for this difference, showing that the recoverable strain of a polycrystal depends on the texture of the polycrystal, the transformation strain of the underlying martensitic transformation and especiall...
متن کاملHomogenization methods for anisotropic linear elastic polycrystals
The elastic properties of uniform polycrystalline materials without defects depend on both the constitutive properties of the constituents and the microstructural characteristics like the distribution of grain orientations and grain shapes. For an overview concerning the homogenization of elastic properties see, e.g., [1]. The elementary bounds by Voigt and Reuss take into account only the volu...
متن کاملGrowth of zirconia and yttria-stabilized zirconia nanorod arrays assisted by phase transition
Well-aligned, densely distributed ZrO2 nanorod arrays were fabricated using a non-catalytic, templatefree metal–organic chemical vapour deposition process at a reaction temperature of 1000 C. The reaction temperature was found to play a key role in product morphology, with particle thin films obtained at 550 C and nanorod arrays produced at 1000 C. Increasing the reaction temperature led to the...
متن کاملMacrochanneled Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystals Coated by a Calcium Phosphate Layer
A coextrusion process was used to fabricate three-directionally macrochanneled tetragonal zirconia polycrystals (TZP) with a calcium phosphate coating layer. The three-directionally connected structure was built by a unique alignment and a lamination of the TZP surrounded by calcium phosphate and carbon black filaments. After a thermal treatment (binder burnout and sintering), a 52 vol% array o...
